Steve - thanks for answering the question I posted in the TDR Website/Rountable "BETA Site". Sorry I posted there. Figured I'd copy my question and then your reply. I'll do another immediate reply to this thread with a hopeful clearification of my question. It's really miniscule, so don't utilize too much time on it.
Original question
Steve & Gang. When sending a new PM, not a reply or the like, can the system be made to allow the user to click on the name, or several names, of the person(s) you want to "send" a message to, click a button (something like) "go to message", then the new PM with the person's name(s) is there and you just start typing the subject/title & message, then click send? It's a bit annoying to have to remember the persons "exact" screen name, then switch screens and type it in. Also, instead of having to select "save a copy in the out box" can the default be to save the message, allowing user the option to delete it later?
Hope I'm not asking for too much - actually not asking just wondering if it's feesable?
Hey, where'd "spell Check" go???
Steve's reply
I guess I'm not sure what you mean. On every thread you can click on a persons name and click on send a private message to xxx and it will do what your talking about. Or you can go to the member list (pull down discussion forums menu up top to member list) and there is a PM button there that you can do the same. The current software has that.
On the save a copy in the out box no we won't be changing that default. That's the original default and we had it that way at one time. The problem is that MANY users wouldn't clear out their outbox and then people couldn't send them pm's because their mailbox was full (all mailboxes count towards your pm total that you can have). It was a MAJOR support issue that we had to answer the question constantly - like 30+ times a week. Instead we changed the default to where you need to click it if you want to save it and we only have to deal with questions about that once every 2 or 3 months.
Spell check will need to be added to this software but I'm still evaluating different spell check packages for it. So far I haven't found a good one. The one we're using now won't work with the new software.
