How many of you filled your differential with the side ck plug hole?? I found this MUCH EASIER than trying to fill from the top. Also, this diff cover says it holds . 75-1 qt over stock. I added 5 quarts once the cover was installed and from the looks of it, brought it right up to the factory level on the stock cover. Would there be any advantage to filling the cover from the top hole? Or is using the side on OK?? THanks!

Sometimes it is easier to fill with the top plug if you don't have a lube pump. 1 quart bottles are easier to fill from the top hole in my opinion.

Thanks! I bought the lube qt bottles that have the pointed type ends and the handle... It worked really well for me to just squirt it in the side hole. . thanks for your response!

I Bought the lube pump from genos, around ten bucks. Works great with qt size bottles, plus I like my PML cover!!!

I did have a little tiny bit of seepage out of the bottom bolt the day after I installed the cover. PML told me to use some Thread sealer like it has from the factory. Wasn't enough to even drip, but a little moist. . we'll see. If I have too, I will remove and use RTV instead. Problem solved.

Someone mentioned extra oil..... above. . at a higher level... .

Remember that the oil lever is not designed to get much higher... you'll push a lot of extra oil out into the wheels... . where the seals aren't designed to handle that higher level... .

Also some oils tend to foam when the level gets too high and they mix with air..... just too much moving around in the housing... .....

Just my thoughts... ...

roperteacher,

I also had some seepage on my PML cover. I just added a little torque to the bolts until it stopped. I didn't crank on them from the beginning so they wern't that tight when I was done. I also put a little silicone on the upper portions of the drain and fill plug threads to prevent them from seeping. If the silicone is on the upper portion of the threads it won't get into the oil when you put them in.

Hey I used to work at a 4wd shop and when we would regear a rearend we would remove the abs wheel speed sensor on the top of the housing and clean metal of of them and fill then regear with oil from the top of the housing and when the oil ran out the OEM designated fill hole we knew it was full. on full floating rearends we would fill it to the top of the fill hole then drive it in the ditch in fron tof the shop both ways then fill it up again. this way we knew the hubs got oil.
