I am thinking about getting a PML diff cover. The PML cover sticks back further than the stock cover. With my camper on the truck my spare tire is about 1 inch behind the stock cover. Will there be enough room for the PML cover or will it hit or rub on my spare tire?

If anyone has a PML with their spare tire down behind the diff cover I would like to hear what they have to say about the clearance. ( or anyone else that may have some info on this ) If you know how much further back the PML cover protrudes I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Big Rig

mine clears fine. even with trailer attached. mark i have a question for you if you would be so kind:my pml has some seeping around the level ckeck plug, the fill plug, and around some of the perimeter bolts. i torqued the plugs to 12 lbs and the cover bolts to 20 lbs as per instructions. the gasket was fine as this was the first change.

Big Rig,

I've got the PML covers with a 315 spare and it doesn't rub at all. I don't think you'll have a problem.

What about the Mag-Hytec with a FULL size apare? My stock spare looks like it would hit in the right situation???

thanks mark. should a guy use any thread sealer?i didn't because it didn't say anything about it in the instructions. its not gripping or anything it just looks ugly.

mattk50,

I had the same problem with them seeping. On the level and fill bolts I used a little silicone towards the tops of the threads. This kept the sealer from getting into the oil and worked great. On the mounting bolts I just kept giving them a little torque until they stopped seeping and this worked great as well.

RonCar,

I don't know about the Mag-Hytec. I think I was told they would rub but I'm not sure.
