I called PML today to order a rear differential cover for my Dana 80 diff. My call was answered by a nice lady who mentioned they were getting ready to release a cover for the front diff (was not yet on the web page when I called). A friendly gentleman named Dave came on the phone to help me with some questions that I had. After talking to him, I decided to order the front cover for the Dana 60 too. Dave was very polite and helpful while I went out and crawled around underneath my truck. Somewhere along the I rediscovered that my 2002 has a vent on the front cover. When I let Dave know, he was very interested in this point since they did not have the vent on the front cover. I emailed some pictures of the stock cover and he is checking into it to see if he can work out a solution.

I am curious if your trucks with the dana 60 front have the differential vent on the differential cover or on the differential case (like the dana 80 rear). I will will pass this information back to Dave. I will let everyone know what happens. The price for the covers seems very reasonable.

Blue2002

Seems like a good price. I have thought about the Mag, but had a hard time with the price. I don't really want a diff cover for it's looks, I just want it to help cool the oil.

Keep us posted on how it works out.

Hi Bob,

I'm a bit confused. . What do you mean by the 'CAD' was eliminated. So I am hearing that the vent on the front differential cover is only a 2002 thing for the dana 60's? I am hoping to pass this back to PML.

By the way, Dave at PML will be installing a vent for me close to the stock location.

Thank You,

George

George, the center axle disconnect (CAD) was eliminated in the mid of 2002 model year ( January). The front axle vent was located on it and hosed up to under the engine air filter. With the elimination of the CAD the vent hose connection was moved to the front differential cover.

Recieved both PML covers last week. Both look well built and sturdy.

Rear installed easily. Plenty of clearance between back of cover and torsion bar. Highly Recommend!

Did not install the front cover. The distance between the front of the diff cover and the steering bar seemed fine. But I estimated ~2 inches clearance between the top of the front diff cover and the track bar. :( Hoping, I might be able to use it anyways, I checked my upward axle movement by taping a pliable piece of lead in the 3" gap between the top of the axle and the rubber axle bumper stop on the driver's side. ( Wonder why I could not get my wife to hang on the fender with a tape measure in hand Oo. :-{} ). Found upward movement of 2" on normal roads * 2. 75" on bumpy paved road. :--)

Looked around for something else to use it on. Wouldn't fit the wife's mazda, so wife made me send it back.

Seriously Dave and Crew at PML seem like a great bunch of people and are very customer focused. Dave was very interested in the pictures I sent and was hoping they might be able to have something in the future sometime. I definetely would consider business with them again and I hope to be first in line to have a redesigned front PML cover if it becomes available.
