2016 Ram2500 4x4 6.7 L. 68RFE transmission, still under extended warranty, kept throwing PO868 code (low line press transmission). Truck had been in RAM service dept. to remedy code situation 3 times. Each time I was told it’s all set, no further issues, not! This last and 4th time throwing PO868 code, truck goes into Ram service for code, this time service manager comes back and states HQ wants to take transmission out disassemble, find problem. I leave truck, service manager calls and states the transmission clutches are toast along with other damaged transmission stuff.
Apparently the low line pressure is the cause, Service Mngr. recommends replacing transmission due to lack of availability of parts, waiting to hear what HQ will authorize.
My bet is I get screwed- just my honest opinion.

You will get a new REMAN.

If I interpret his post correctly I think he is out of warranty now. And wasn't the first three times it happened.

It sounds so familiar to me because exactly that happened to me many years ago with a lightly grinding manual trans in a Semi.
All I heard was " it's all good" till I traded the Truck to the same dealer, then he meant i must be fixed.
I was so pissed then.

He says he has an extended warranty.

I have an '08 Town & Country that had a trans issue just before the warranty ran out. I took it in and the dealer worked on it. It continued to have the problem and the warranty ran out. I took it back and because I had brought it in while still under warranty they replaced the trans. I think a lot of these problems have to do with the dealer. Some make it happen, others don't. My problem went all the way to the top and my dealer went to bat for me and made it happen.

For Max-care warranty they utilize a 3rd party to "inspect and approve" whatever repair it needs. In our case, truck blew up on a Sunday (broken valve spring #6 cylinder which led to destruction of that cylinder and piston etc. Inspector was supposed to show up "48 hours after claim is filed", BUT if the servcice writer is not on the ball they will say that 48 hours is from the time they receive it, not when you deliver truck. Pays to stay after them, I had multiple different people through the warranty and inspection people, but we finally got it done on a Friday. And they approved a completely new (reman that is!) engine. Truck has been great since, not a single adjustment after new engine went in (Lithia dealer in Eugene, OR). Run it around 13,000 miles so far. Anyway, you possibly have to gently ride herd on both the sercvice writer and the Inspector people, keep a written log of your conversation. If they screw with you there is an attorney in Oregon I think, who specializes in getting resolution of warranty coverage. I never sued anybody in 67 years and didn't want to start now, but it doesn't hurt to let them all know you are going to be a pit-bull.

Slightly different, but close. My 2002 HO had a front crankshaft seal leaking at about 98k. Took it to the local dealer, which I try to avoid at all costs, but too big for me to tackle at that time. Repaired under 5/100 Cummins warranty. Drove from norcal to Tucson, and at approx 102k, front seal leaking again. Took it to dealer in AZ, who called the original dealer, who sent an inspector from Chrysler to the Tucson dealership. The claim was denied because I had installed a Cummins supplied crankcase breather kit to eliminate the oil catch can mess. Inspection was performed before the engine was torn down, so the inspector could not see the cause of the leak. Just denied as "unauthorized modification", even though it had nothing to do with the leak. I have worked in dealership parts and service departments for 40+ years. I know what happened, the first seal job was given to a tech not experienced in Cummins repair. He tried to pull the seal out thru the front of the timing cover with a hook type seal puller. I have one myself, but on the 5.9, you have to take the timing cover off as the seal comes out the back side. In doing so, he gouged the crank snout so the seal did not last. So, 2nd seal leaked. Long story short, sleeved style seal was installed at no charge, paid for by the original dealer, only after I promised to be outside his dealership with a sandwich sign on Monday morning to warn other customers of the poor workmanship. So much for Chrysler customer service. Seems they look for anything to deny a claim, instead of taking care of their customers. Hope your transmission story ends well.
