I finally got my truck back from the body shop 2 months later. They had to take it to the bare metal to get rid of the flaking paint, so the new paint would stick. It was well worth the wait. This weekend I installed my POD injectors and PDR turbo with 14cm hsg ,4" exhaust no muffler. it smokes quite a bit, is it ok to let it smoke? It doesn't bother me and no state test. Just want to make sure it is alright for the motor. Can I run dyed fuel ? will it hurt anything what should I do next for more power? The injectors really woke it up alot. I am reading 30# boost wot empty. what kind of horse power am I at and torque?

Nice ride....

How do you get into it without a ladder? I don't see a step on the pass side. How does your wife get up there? I would love to see her try to get in there with a mini-skirt on... . :D :D :D

Darrin,

Nice truck!

What is the color combination? My eyesight is not as good as it used to be so help me out here.

Smoke won't hurt anything as long as the law leaves you alone. Mine smokes also, more when it is still cold. After it warms up the smoke thins out a little. Have you advanced the pump any? If not, you may want to do that as it will probably help out with reducing the smoke.

Paccool The colors are same as it was original drift wood and dark blue with tint of green not positive on exact name. I haven't touched the pump yet.

DEZLPWR If you can't get in you probably don't need to be there :D :D HEHE not sure what I am going to use for steps yet

WOW, sweet looking ride.....

... "I am reading 30# boost wot empty"...

Good grief, and you haven't touched the pump ??

Are you sure 'someone' hasn't touched it. ???

Anyway, you need to check your EGT's for starters. (1250*F max)

Pump timing will help with response, and reduce some of the smoke. Try setting around 14 -15. 5 degrees advance. That seems to work well for most guys running the POD's.

You can reduce smoke with the smoke screw a bit if you're wanting to try that.

Smoke is simply fuel that is not fully burned. Now PW hates that with a passion. I'm not all that keen on it myself but at some point you cross the line into MORE POWER mode and it just happens.

It will increase soot levels in your oil, and emissions of course, as well as a bit more deposits on the injector nozzles. Running a decent cleaner/cetane additive will also help reduce those things.

Also a good hard run on the highway will clean things out for you too.

You're on your way bud...

edit: dyed fuel should not be a problem unless, like up here, the 'man' frowns on that since it's for farm use only.

Bob.

The truck looks great.

I was just saying last night that I'd like to lift mine. Not much though. Gotta be able to pull my goose neck. :D

Here in Oregon, you better not get caught with red fuel in your truck or it a 10000. 00 fine first time. They assume that you have not paid road tax on it. Real nice truck and alittle smoke doesn't hurt anything if it doesn't bother you. Tim:D :D

Timing advanced

Well I advanced the timing now my boost droped to 28# my egt's are just under 1000* WOT empty A lot less smoke and a lot better response what caused my boost to drop? The truck has 240,000 miles on it so maybe someone has tinkered with it already?

There is an in-depth discussion of that issue in this thread:
