I just installed my POD'S and HOLY S**T did they add POWER!!!! :D :D :D Its a beautiful thing. The only complaint is that when I romp on it the cloud I let out is REALLY thick. I want to adjust the smoke screw but don't know which way to go. Can anyone help? Also I adjusted my fuel screw 1 1/2 turns and adjusted my idle down.

Thanks

John

AJ, is there any good guess you can give as to how much to turn the screw out? I was wondering if one turn is to much or maybe not enough or do I have to do the trial and error thing?

John

Don't be afraid to turn that sucker!!! Pretty much no matter what you do to your starwheel, your truck is still going to run. The further down it is (righty tighty), the more low end smoke you will have because it increases your pre-boost fuel (which also helps the turbo spool faster). The further up it is (lefty loosey) the less low end smoke because it will decrease your pre boost fuel, and your turbo won't spool quite as fast. I would probably go in one or two full turn increments until you achieve the desired result. Or you could just crank it all the way down and enjoy the smoke show!! :)

John,

One turn is pretty significant per my experience..... and you will have to do the trial and error thing.

That's the fun part about this whole process... ... . you get to "tweak" to your personal liking. Oo.

A tweak, tweak here, and a tweak, tweak there, here a tweak, there a tweak, etc.

I'll keep my day job.

I just wanted to clarify, it is not a screw. To get to it you have to take the four flat head screws off the top of the pump ( I think it's called the aneroid housing). then remove the black rubber diaphragm that the fuel pin is attached to. Then you should see the starwheel. You can't miss it. If this is what you were already talking about, disregard this post.

I thought the smoke screw was under the cap on top of the aneroid housing. Am I mistaken cause thats the way I understand the instruntions.

The smoke screw IS under the cap on top of the aneroid housing. To decrease smoke, loosen the screw and back the screw out a little. I personally have mine backed all the way out. I DO NOT need the tiny bit of extra fuel to get my turbo to spool faster. I can really darken up the area if I get on it with no to low boost.

The starwheel under the diaphragm in the aneroid housing can be used to decrease fuel as well. remove the entire top of the housing, remove the diaphragm and fuel pin, noting where you have it turned too, and look inside. BTW, make certain you do not loose the nylon washer that is going to be on your fuel pin. Down inside the housing, you will see the starwheel. Turning it clockwise will increase fueling at low boost, i. e. increase smoke, while turning CCW will reduce low boost fueling and reduce your smoke.

Hope this helps clarify things for you a little. Just get over the pucker factor and hop in and do it. :-laf
