Will this cause too high EGT temps? Right now with my pump cranked pretty good I can max it out at 1200 deg and max boost is 27#. My pump settings as follows. Smoke Screw +2 turns; Diaghragm pin set at max; starwheel +2-3 turns; full load fuel screw +3/4 turn. Advice? Wait, make that 1300-1400 deg and 33#

of boost! I turned the full load smoke screw up some ? I'm not sure exactly how much? It was hard to count how many turns it went when it took it out to take the stop collar. I'm guessing 1-2 more turns. Man this sucker will RUN!!:D :D :D :D Smoke and smoking burnouts.

C C I don't know about the pods for our early model trucks but all ya need is a wildman tune up of your pump. burries my 35psi boost guage turns over3000 rpm pyro way over the top and leaves a cloud like a destroyer. Thanks again Mark. Bill:--) :D

THERE YOU ARE BILL... ...

Were the heck you been ole duffer?????

Bob.

ps: I believe the POD's will work in all the 1st Gens, the only detail may be a slightly different body for the nozzle..... geezz... you know I'm honestly not 100% sure on that ... ... ... ... ... I must be gettin old again... . ;)

Give PDR a call if no one else knows for sure...

Now the bad news... . you already got temp problems from the look of it. Unless you plan on easing back on the pump you'll have some pretty high temp spikes on the ole girl. .

Good high flow filter will help, good exhaust will help, and maybe turbo tuneup/change for the last kick at the temperature gods...

My eyebrows are still on the back of my head from hitting 1700*F

Not at all--just back off on your full-power screw as needed, or manage the EGTs with your right foot.

Also, everyone seems to forget that the amount of time most people's engines spend at full throttle is usually *very* little. The exceptions seem to only be those who race their trucks regularly (I don't mean stoplight to stoplight).

I wouldn't worry about getting PODs at all--if you've got the money now, I say go for it!

CC I thought the full load fuel screw(the one at the rear of the pump) & the smoke screw were the same

are you calling the high idle the full load?

& the one at the rear of the pump the smoke screw?

is there a screw somewhere Im missing out on?

please enlighten me

Im a lil confused:(

thanks

Steve,

I just put pods in my 90 this weekend, and all I can say is WOW!:--) :D :--) :D :--) :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally understand what everyone is talking about with wheel spin and torque converter slip. It GOES now! I turned the fuel screw in 2 turns at the same time. On level ground under full throttle, I hit 30psi boost and 1100 degrees on exhaust. I also get a pretty good puff of smoke as the boost comes in, but it clears pretty quickly and isn't really a problem.

I am curious how far I will have to back off the fuel screw to use the truck for towing?

Hope this helps.

Hope this helps

Jim,

It helps me! :D Answers a lot of questions regarding egts and non-intercooled.

(BTW, we have a plan for hardening your DD fuel pin ... . just need to wait for some available time in our vacuum furnace);)

Hey East Coast Jay,

Does Jims DD pin need a friend in that there hot box? Sure would be nice to play with it some more.

WCJ

Hey, glad to see you two are gonna get together and do some hardening on that pin.

Just a thought but how about doing a small 1/8" wide "custom grind" in one spot, THEN hardening it after the grind and polishing is done.

That way, you'll have a good 3/4 of the cone in stock DD contour, and a single area you modified for different slope characteristics/fueling level.

Just a thought.

Keep us up to date on your progress.

Jay,

WHAT does it tell you? Is my temp or boost too high? I've seen the numbers posted around, but am unsure what to modify next to get better numbers, especially on exhaust temp for towing:confused:

Jim,

It tells me that my egts won't go crazy if I upgrade my injectors, having a non-intercooled engine.

Since I don't tow or haul an awful lot very often I should be able to get away with a little egt rise... . especially in the northeast where ambient temps are moderate.
