Wanting to run a 540 pump on the 1000 PTO. Trying to slow the tractor down as it has twice the horsepower needed.



Nope, I'm not BOMBing the thing, just trying to save fuel!

Nothing fancy, cheap would be nice!!

Gene, I bought one from Harbor Freight just a few months ago to do much the same thing as you plan on. Only $35 and works great. You have to put a piece of reflective tape on the part you want to measure. It does 1- 20,000 rpm. I've checked it on electric motors that are rated at a certain rpm and it has been right on.

I just checked their site, they have two for $79. 99. Both digital. Was yours a special in the catalog?

Gene, I had been looking for one for quite awhile and jumped when I saw the price so it very well could have been on sale. Hard to tell with the way their catalogs are set up. I have found with HF that their catalog prices are most always cheaper than the net.
