Well I can't seem to get anywhere on polishing the housing on my new Pro Street 66. I thought that I would save the money and do it myself. Can anyone on here help me out with the process of doing this I have spent six hours doing this and am getting knowhere, the housing is smooth, but I can't get it polished out. Just looking for opinions. Thanks in advance

I "cleaned" the "blanks" lettering off the wife's twin ram intake. Then I smoothed it all up, but stopped way short of polish. Powder coated it red.

You're on the right track. Smooth, then smoother--maybe 400-600 grit paper (wet) then at some point methinks you'll have to put it on a buffing wheel with the appropriate rouge. Buffing may go faster if you take it to 1000-1200 grit first, but I'm not an expert there.

Enjoy the process-polished housings are so perty- and keep them grimey black fingers off Momma's stuff. :-laf

Any way you do it, it will take a lot of time. Power buffer or not. Need plenty of patience.

Need to get the name of it, but I use a 3M product that has some rough abrasives in it, to smooth it up a bit, and gives a slight shine. Then use a polish like White Diamond or polish from a shop supply company called "5 Star". Good stuff.

I also use different types of polishing wheels, and also have one of the orange polishing ball deals to get in tighter spots.

Ive had good luck with mothers mag and aluminum wheel polish. Even polishing dirt bike frames (hondas. . aluminum) is fairly easy with this stuff.

but I also use a nice rotary, and that would be hard to use ona turbo housing. I would like to polish the housing on my dodgezilla too. just for something different.

Well have eleven hours into it. I think one of my problems is that I wasn't using the right polishing compound. I'm going to use my mag polish and my Milwaukee grinder with the buff wheel attachment and then finish the smaller areas with my Dremel and buffing attachments. It's absolutely killing me not being able to put it on yet. Girlfriend has me locked into doing crap tonight and tomorrow, so hopefully I can work on it Sun and get it on. Thanks for the advice and I'll get pics up soon.
