Politics Section

The TDR higher-ups made a decision about the Politics section.

In general, the Politics section easily has the largest number of complaints, warnings, and bannings, yet the overwhelming majority of staff moderation time for such a small number of registered accounts. We could better put the time towards improving the site. Keep this in mind when posting!

And the decision:

- The Politics section has been re-opened.
- You must be a TDR subscriber to participate.
- Three strikes will be enforced.
- If staff or moderators ask for something to stop, please don't give them grief about it.

I missed an item from my notes!

The reason for making it subscribers only is it will help minimize the amount of time someone has to be paid to handle the section.

Non-subscriber posts in other sections tend to contribute to the base of helpful information, knowledge, and advice about RAM diesel trucks, whereas the Politics section does not.

I think you are correct on the requirement for being a member to post! I seem to have read that sometime ago when I joined TDR back in 2007.

Sometimes at night when the wife is watching a TV show that I am not really interested in. I will open up TDR on the I-pad and not log on. When I do that the political forum is not available.

Hmmm. I can't reply to any Politics threads (buttons aren't there), but I can create new ones. Should I take after Mohney and stir the pot once in a while? No?

I’ve had a vacation for a reason I didn’t feel I should have had (it doesn’t matter), and now I’m banned completely from the section. After a while, I must say that I’m a better person for it. In fact, it caused myself to reevaluate the time I spend here on the TDR.
I’ve been here long enough to earn a pension. It’s getting closer and closer to consider it.

I got the same treatment. One of my posts was deleted for a personal attack. While my post called someone out for reality, it was in no way shape or form a personal attack. Never got any warnings, no conversations from a staff member, nothing. Just got the boot without anything. I guess it’s permanent. At this point I don’t care. The folks who regularly pushed the rules, posted false accusations and information are allowed to continue.

I too feel like I’m better off not being able to see it. In fact, I’ve gotten rid of satellite/cable TV and have cut out mainstream media that tries to push their agenda on me. I’m over the total nonsense and outright lies. Others can lie straight to you, call you names, and be fine. I don’t get it.

Either way, it’s their site, the staff can run it any which they want. We don’t get a vote or say, we aren’t the owners. That’s how this works and I’m not arguing. It is what it is. That being said, some communication from the staff long before things became a problem for them or other members would be a much better approach rather than heavy handed moderation IMHO. I still respect what they’ve done even though I don’t agree with it. The politics section just isn’t worth it for me to get worried about it.

The TDR is still a fantastic site with a bunch of great members. I still enjoy it for what the site was built for. I won’t let the politics section get in my way.

IMHO... I did not join the TDR to hear peoples opinions about things going on out there... never been part of FB or any other "social media",, I simply am here to learn about problems, fixes, and all things CTD... So I welcome that all the political banter being relegated to one place...
