Lets see how many we can find... Does your '03 have the 65MPH or the 2100 RPM vibration, buzz, noise, or whatever you want to call it??

Even if you have fixed the problem yourself please post YES.

The forum software only allows 10 choices.

Even if less people don't have the problem than do, that to me is irrevelant to getting our problem fixed by DC. If we prove that this is a very common problem in one or more models we can hopefully get DC to acknowledge and correct the problem.

I assume by "Vibration" everyone means the gas pedal "buzz"?

Mine has it slightly, and the intensity increases when the A/C is turn on to the point that I get some in the steering wheel.

I just figured it was inherent with a 6cyl diesel.

It seems a lot of people are way to forgiving for defects with a $40,000 pickup truck. Cummins or not it's still a pickup with the price tag of an American luxury car. I'm not reffering to those who haven't had a problem, rather to the people who try to justify the problem as normal or something that should be expected from the inline 6.

Now, I don't expect a pickup to offer the same ride quality as a Caddy, but I also don't want to be driven nuts by a vibration at the most common speed I drive... 65. So far we have 18 with and 25 without the problem. That definatley tells me there are a lot of problem vehicles on the road.

Now, I'm curious where the trucks were built. Do Mexican trucks exhibit the problem, but American built trucks don't? Mine was built in Mexico.

No for me 3500 HO DWR 373 6 spd. The vibration in my friends 2500 SO auto is not normal . If it was my truck i would have gave it back to the dealer from Day 1. My 97 cummins didn't have any vibration near that too.

My truck doesn't go that slow so it's kinda hard to answer:D

it does have a slight harmonic drone from 2100 to 2200. goes away with any load change.

My truck was made in mexico. I have no vibration. I thought all the diesels were built in mexico. This poll don't look good for DC. This is a big problem almost 50/50

No vibs, made in Mexico, May 03. It does seem to be mostly manual transmission related. I wonder if 4X4 has anything to do with it?

I wish I could have put all the possible drivetrain configurations in the poll. It's just not possible though.

Interesting. . I have the same model you do and it has the vibration. My build date was in early April.

They all do it. It's a characteristic of the Cummins engine. That's why it's called the Hummin Cummins. Some people are bothered by it and some aren't. That's why some perceive it as a bad vibration and others see it as a slight drone or barely noticable. Some trucks for whatever reason seem to amplify it more than others. Maybe a tweek in the exhaust or cab mounts a tiny bit one way or another.

If you lock out O/D with the auto or run in direct for the manual, you'll notice it at 2100rpm but it's not as pronounced. O/D must help amplify it with the different rpm of motor and driveshaft. ??? You can also rev the motor to 2600rpm in neutral and feel the same vibrations to a lesser degree.

If you're all torqued out of shape because your Cummins sounds and feels like a Cummins after spending $30-40K or more, you'd really be torqued out of shape if you'd have bought a $98k SuperCruiser or FL70 Freightliner only to have it sound and feel like a Cummins. My Harley cost as much as a nice car too. But it still sounds and feels like a Harley. Cummins and Harleys aren't known for smooth quiet operation.

I'm not making excuses for a truck that costs as much as a luxury car. But it's not a luxury car. It's a truck with a Cummins engine. That's what it sounds and feels like. Leather seats and power mirrors don't change that.
