This is from TDS. I was cruising along and read about this. OMG, say it ain't so!!!!!!! ISBs with lift pump failures? These Ford guys make a big deal out of a 150 dollar pump, while hose Fords are being bought back because they have injector issues or fuel in their oil!

The one guy wondered if I would reply to it, everyone knows who I am over there now, ever since my honest truth post about the 6. slow.

I did reply. I do not see how cheap lift pumps compare to buy backs for injector issues or fuel in oil or leaking bell housings. Those 6. 0s should be bought back just for the way they sound!!

I know this is a lost cause, these blue-blood Ford owners are pathetic.

Remember the tried and true I wont buy it cause its mexican. I found a link statng 1 out of 5 SD were mexican. Granted 1/2 of DCs trucks are mexican. Just got tired of hearing about the mexican truck thing. I love my mexican trucks.

The only thing I would complain about is clinton and nafta. You get a lot more bang for your buck south of the border. So we lose jobs. The benifit is it keeps the cost of the vehicle down and the quality is higher.

They have to cling to the lift pump thing cause its all they have. The cool thing about the cummins is if theres a problem there is a solution. Unlike the "they all do that" problems on the PSD.

From what I gather the t444e is a stout engine. Most people that run the medium duty version like them very much. I wonder where they went wrong. I was asking around and found 3 PSD dead before 160k. I asked an old friend and 30 year diesel mechanic what he expected from the PSD. He owns one so I figured he was gonna talk em up. He says no way is it on par with the cummins for longevity and the stuff that breaks adds up fast(injectors come to mind). When they started upping the hp the price was engine longevity. Too many revs.

I will add this. The vast majority of PSD do well. Very few people keep there truck after 200k. Most people dont care what happens after that. I can run up 200k in as little as three years so I have to shoot for about 300k as optimal longevity. I think the 5. 9 is more likely to get me there.

You are right about this-I see so many people, even on this board, who trade every few years-the hard dollar savings of the diesel (greater longevity, lower maintenance, better fuel economy) don't really pay for itself unless you keep the truck over 100K miles, because of the $5K cost of the engine. I know this is not exactly the same when purchasing used, and the resale on the diesel is a lot better, and the bombability is also better, and they tow better too... anyway people who only keep these trucks from 0-100K miles probably won't see major problems anyway-even on the Duramax and PSD(with the correct injectors:D ).

But lets compare the PSD and Duramax to the CTD at 350K:D

I wonder about this fascination with Fords sometimes. A good story is entertaining. I kind of laugh at their attitude myself, but I really don’t care. I will keep my truck until it gets so bad I can’t fix it. In the mean time, I am not really interested in Fords, Chevys, or later model anything. I bought the best truck I could find at the time I was shopping. If I ever need another I will look at all the available brands again.
