thanks to all of the great help I am up from 11 to a better 14 mpg.

the biggest help was the new IAT. I cleaned the MAp but saw no change! The new Map is a little spendy to just try! I was thinking of smoking the intake system for leaks next? I do not know if pressure testing it would be better? I have a smoke machine so that is easy to try.

In case my sig. does not work this is a 01 DRW 3500 CTD Quad cab. My buddy still sees 15. 5 - 16 back roads in the same truck. I am getting the 14 even on the highway! any more thoughts?

Thanks for all the help in the past!

The 99 I have is the same way. "Fuel" mileage has never been good. Duals are a mileage killer I guess. 4:10 gears don't help either. I have tried the IAT cleaning, tightening the boost clamps, replaced the MAP,Etc,etc. Nothing I ever did ever seemed to help. I just recently bought a Van Aaken box to try. But before I could really test to see if it does any good, the lift pump went out. I have no shop to work in , so It has been sitting, as I want to relocate it to in front of the tank. But, I am not giving up yet. The Smarty is bragging a significant increase in mileage. I am going to try that as a last resort before giving up.

I have always felt that the fuel mileage difference between mine and others was more to do with the computer than anything else, so the Smarty should fix that.

BTW, I get somewhere between 12 to 14 empty &/or loaded. I am and always was dissapointed,( in the fuel mileage) but I guess it is the nature of the beast. Sorry my post is no help to you, I just thought I would join in your rant.

On a side note, when I see someone say "bad "GAS" mileage", my initial thought response is to tell them to put DIESEL in it. :-laf

Thanks! I would not be surprised by the Mileage except for my friend with an almost identical truck always has done 15. 5 and 20 highway! He has no mods! I guess I will give up soon as I do not really need this truck, just figured I would rather drive this than a van! With my friends economy I figured I could feel pretty good about driving this thing every day! I will work on it a little longer before I throw in the towel! It is a nice driver other than the poor economy! My buddy even gets pretty respectable numbers when towing a big horse trailer! I do not know if this one was like this from new as I only purchased it recently!

Try a set of RV275 injectors.

Most bang for the buck.

My mileage was OK 17-18 then started going down hill 13-15.

Changed injectors, 55hp more and 19-21mpg.

Cost about $300 installed.

Good Luck.

By the way just got my smarty, That Thing ROCKS! :)
