A friend of mine has a 94 12 valve 5 speed that starts and runs smooth at idle and will peg at 3200 RPM sitting still but has a HUGE loss for power under accelerating. It will only build 10 PSI max boost and wont get over 600 degrees on the pyro. Yesterday driving out to have me help figure it out it came out of the symptoms but after leaving here it once again did it. I had him take all his intercooler boots off and check them for cracks and loose clamps but that wasnt the problem. Im thinking a fuel starvation issue but why would it come and go like that? We are ordering parts Monday for a headgasket job and would like to order whatever else it needs for next Saturdays beer drinking session and R&R.

Thanks in advance!

Check the boost line from the manifold to the AFC, and the AFC itself. If there's no boost to the AFC or the AFC is not 'registering' boost, you'll have 0-60 times measured in minutes at best.

check to see if the fuel shutoff is lifting all the way. I had my cable activated one not lift all the way and it acted similar.
