Users in Chat...

i have the google internet exploder toolbar that has the pop up blocker built in. it works well, and the auto fill button is neat, but i love having the google search bar right there. just type in what you want, and it searches right there.

and if you want a pop up to work with it, all you need to do is press CTRL and it'll open it in a new window [works good for the PM's here]

I've got Abstract. Not free, but it works great. Sometimes it can be a real pain in the neck. Often times you need to disable it to see pop-up you want to see. After you disable, you need to refresh the browser. Orbitz is the biggest pop up offender in my mind. It's never ending. I know advertising helps pay for the net, but enough is enough.

If you are using internet explorer on a pc, download the advant browser from tucows or donloads.com .

It is an alternate interface for IE that includes a pop-up blocker and other security features. My kids were getting my browser hijacked and all kinds of interesting pop-ups. I haved used Advant for over a year now and it works great.

Be aware that ad blocking and pop up blocking software does cause some incompatibility issues. We have had a couple of users recently that installed Norton internet security and some of the text on the forum pages disappeared because of it! The thread titles and the username of the last poster got blocked by it. They turned it off and they came back. So if something stops working after you install something like this try turning it off and see if the problem goes away. Just a word of warning.

Thanks, Steve, that explains what I've been seeing (or rather, not seeing  ) at home. I just come back later (on the laptop or at work) and find you've fixed the site :D

Free Surfer

I have been using Free Surfer for about 2 years now, at home and at work. There is 2 version available, the FREE one and one you can buy with more features. I use the Free one, and most of my friends & co-workers use it too. I rarely find a site that I have to hold the CTRL key down when I click a link to make it work.
