04' Tow Weights........

Surging/hesitation when towing with your 24 valve truck?

Ok - I know there are folks like Northstar - http://www.northstarcampers.com/ make Pop Up Campers. And I realize the limitations to them. Now look at a Volkswagon Camper - NOT the vehicle - but the way the top Pop's Up. Does anybody Make a Popup Top that will allow you the useability of the pickup - tailgate etc - BUT still have the popup camper for sleeping in a pinch??????

Looks very interesting.

Well maybe not exactly what I had in mind - a good idea. I'll check into it - BTW - have you ever seen one of these?

I have a WilderNest Topper and really enjoy it! It takes a little effort to set up and you cannot drive until it's broken down into the down position. It is similar to the FliPac (sorry, no pictires at this time) but the hinges are along the passenger side instead of the front of the topper. I think you might be asking if someone makes a normal looking topper in the down position with a little head room as it "scissors" up to make it taller inside? I have not seen one of these.

I would recommend a Wildernest over the FliPac (if you can find the former as they are not made anymore) because the side that the roof flip over to makes a neat lil' porch/ shelter.

Thanks Guys

These things just go to show that there is no perfect camper, boat etc. Always compromises. I did like the idea of maybe having it act as a shelter. The Northstar that I referenced is a pop up camper - BUT from what I've seen, has the very best mechanism for putting the camper up and down. I'll keep looking as I think there are some different ones made in Austrailia and Europe.
