I'm posting this for a friend who is not a member yet.

I have a 2001 HO 6spd, short box, tow package, camper special, anti-slip diff. I have had the spider gear replaced once in the rear end and also had the entire yoke replaced the second time. Just picked it up from the Dodge dealer today for a 3rd time in the shop. I have had this "popping" noise in the rear end - especially when the front wheels are turned. Finally, DC and the dealer has told me this is "normal. " I am not buying it. Have you had this "popping" noise? Anyone else you know had this noise? Could you possibly post this for me? My truck is totally stock - no mods... .

Thanks,
Charles

sounds like the limited slip has something wrong or maybe u-joints... I can't think of what else would be popping.

Since the famous Dodge boys have had three opportunities to fix it, you are now qualified to impose the "lemon law". Contact your state consumers affairs board for the paper work to start this action. In my opinion, if they can fix it, stick it up their butts. This is the only way to get the over paid Germans off the fat butts. Since you have not modified your truck, the arbitrator should decide in your favor. You will get all of your money back, and you have the right to suit for the interest as well in small claim court if the arbitrator does apply that as well.
Go get them !!!

If you had a Detroit Locker in the rear end you might get some noise and action on turns. But you don't. That noise is not normal and should be corrected immediately. The dealer needs to realize that playing with a drive train and making stupid excuses can be dangerous.

Add a tube of limited slip friction modifer.
Sounds to me like the dealer either didn't
put any in or at least not enough. Hope this
helps. Rick

LSD additive may help but usually you get the shudder and don't hear anything without friction modifier additive. Let the dealer furnish the additive. It's too expensive to put in if the cover is about to come off again.
