We are on a trip, or even going 20 miles, and the cruise control (CC) is set to a certain speed.
At some point, the CC will pop out of the setting, just as if I hit the Cancel button. The setting for the correct speed will not be lost, so I hit Resume, and it will return to that speed once again.
When we tow the trailer, once it starts, it does it most often when we hit a bump in the road. If there's no trailer, it happens at no particular time or event, it could be on a smooth road.
I can't reproduce it, as we may go 300 miles (or 20) without any trouble at all, but once it starts, it seems to happen every 5 - 10 minutes. If we stop for something to eat, or the truck is off for awhile, it may not happen again for 100 miles, or it may start off 10 miles down the road. There's no exact situation or time frame.
I'm fairly certain it's electrical, and I was thinking that there must be a pin/socket connection that may be getting oxidized or a connection with some corrosion, but I would have no idea where to look.
This just started last year (we don't drive it in the winter), but it hasn't gotten worse, as we just returned from a short 50 mile jaunt, and it didn't do it at all. But there is something loose, corroded or simply needs a better connection, IMO.
Can anybody help on this problem?
Thanks,
Robert
