Water Meth and Coolant Temps

Need Snow Perf W/M instructions! Please

Just got my truck back together today after a broken head stud. Runs real strong with the new ported head. I was expecting to lose some egt over the stock head and get rid of some smoke. Well the smoke has cleared up but my egt has gone up about 100 to 150 deg. I didn't change anything except the head and gasket. It's hot enough that I am going to have to turn the fuel down before I dyno it. Goes up fast too. Darn thing ran cool before, had to stay in it a while to get to 1000 deg. Now I am getting to 1200 in just a few seconds. My top turbo is wastegated at about 30 or so. Would it help to lower it down to 25?

Was the head "over ported" Too much porting can lower intake velocities and reduce piston bowl swirl.

24 valve heads are tangential flow. This means that the intake charge enters the cylinder at a tangent and causes the intake air to swirl. Both ports have to flow the same ammount.

I am running a 14 with the modified waste gate on top and a 23 on the bottom. I haven't tried the 26 on the bottom yet. I have only been to 45 lbs of boost so far. I will put some miles on it over the next few days and if it holds together I will put it on the dyno. If it does up around 450 I won't worry about it.

I can think of two things,

One is that you have a head/head gasket that now works and seals correctly and your making more power and seeing more heat.

And didnt you change headgasket thinckness or did you get the same as last time?

Sounds like the small turbocharger is not spooling enough, disable the wastegate see if the EGts improve do not let it over boost,if that improves it you need to slow the opening of the waste gate,my suggestion is to tee in a micro valve so you can adjust the bleed of to the wastegate.

Well, after a couple of hours of messing with it and 400 miles of driving it seems to be doing better. Runs a little hotter at around 10 to 15 lbs of boost. Funny thing is, if I am going up a steep grade at 15 lbs of boost it runs around 800 deg egt. If I roll it up to 30 lbs it is still 800 deg. At 40 lbs it runs about 900. Plus the black smoke that use to start at around 15 lbs of boost is now just a light gray color all the way up to about 3/4 throttle. ( haven't gone past that point yet). I guess putting on the new valve cover made it run better. Too bad I could only get a red one.
