This is going to be a long post so sorry in advance. The truck is a 98 2500 12 valve automatic 4X4 extended cab SLT short wheel base with 410 rear end. The truck only has 85000 original miles on it.
A little history of the truck. My grandfather purchased the truck new and used it around the farm. The truck is completely stock down to the air filter. The only thing that has been done to the truck is regular maintenance and the starter has been rebuilt. The truck did not use any oil and there were no oil leaks and everything worked. My grandfather retired from farming and sold the truck to his son to continue to use around the farm and to let his 16 year old daughter drive. They had the truck about a month when the daughter had an accident in truck and totaled it out. I will try to describe the damage but I only saw the truck at night and did not get a real good look at the truck. I will take some pictures when I get a chance and get a better description of the damaged and non damaged items.
The daughter ran off the road and hit a concrete culvert with the front axle. It broke the front axle into two pieces. However it looks like the pumpkin is fine all drive shafts are still attached. However I think that most of the front suspension and the front end parts are damaged. The frame is bent and shifted. The motor does not appear to be hurt and was still running after the accident. There were no fluids leaking when the wrecker loaded it on the flatbed truck. The radiator is still in tact and the fan did not hit the radiator. From what I did see looking with a flash light the oil pan has a few dents in it but it does not appear to be bad enough to hurt the oil pickup in the pan. However, the sheet metal looks to be in good shaped with only minimal damage. The bed appears to be straight with the tailgate in tact. The bed did not hit the cab in the accident. None of the glass in the truck broke. The doors on the drivers side open and close like nothing has happened to the truck. The passenger side top of the door is about 3 inches from the cab. Anyway my uncle is waiting on the insurance company to see what they will pay and what they say the salvage value is. He is most likely going to buy the truck back and take a few minor parts off and then try to sell it as a donor or parts. So if you might be interested please let me know. I will try to get some pictures real soon. If you want more information please pm me or email me at -- email address removed --. I told my uncle that I would post this and see if anyone here would be interested in the truck or any of the parts. The truck is located near Waco, Texas.
