Can anybody with a CarFax please help me? I was helping servicing a 96 CTD today and found a sticker on the oilfilter that was datet 04-13-2004 and milage 176000miles. Today the odometer shows 128000. Could be an error on the sticker of course, but it's highly suspicious :confused:

I would love to have my own subscription with CarFax, but as a foreigner they won't alow me to sign up :{

The VIN# is 1B7KF26C8TS585276

i pull the history from dealer connect and it was last at a dealer on october 9th 2001 and it had 126,813 miles on it then. so if it only has 128,000 on it now means only one of two things that it was parked for a while or you have a fraud case.

Thanks Robert! I'm convinced it's fraud, because there are no signs from doorstickers or service books anywhere. So someone have really cleaned out the truck. But the sticker where put on the oilfilter so it faced the engine. Carfax would be nice also, it was exported to Norway somewhere in 2004.

the number 7 can turn into a number 2 very easily. I have had it happen many times when I hand write things on curved surfaces. might be just an oops. But I don't know your situation. I would pull the VIN file on it.

I`d bet that #7 is just a #2 missing the bottom leg. If you think about it, vehicles lose a lot of value after 100k, so whats to gain by turning just 50k off of it?

I`m certainly not supporting possible fraud, but I also weigh the options before jumping to conclusions.

Good luck with the carfax, unfortunately I cant help here.

I also wish it was so, but just over 1000 miles in 5 years? Most likely this happend here in Norway, and the value of a Dodge with a CTD are a lot more over here than US. We have tried the Norwegian DMV, but without much luck so far. No documents about milage so far here
