I had a slight accident and took to a local dealer in Houston. Insurer wanted to use aftermarket bumper and fog light bezel. After fighting with them, I did get them to use oem parts. My concern is that they may not have. Fog Light Bezel 55077239AD seems good. The problem is that the bumper should be 55077946AB, but I am concerned that the dealer used an aftermarket bumper. Overall fit is good but these are my concerns:

1. Bumper does not have round holes for fog light harness clips to push into. It only had one in the center.
2. License plate bracket now has huge gap between it and the bumper.
3. Bumper is painted black on the backside.
4. Fit around fog lights is poor and not centered.
5. The # 1AR81TRMAB is stamped on the inside of bumper. A search for this number turns up nothing for me.

This is a 47k mile truck purchsed originally by me. I just want it right. Dealer says this bumper is OEM from their parts department. Does anyone have any ideas about how to identify this as an OEM bumper or not? Does that strange number mean anything to anyone. I have not taken the bumper off, but that is my next step after I call XL Parts and LKQ to see if the strange number means anything.

It is very possible that happened to you...I know for a fact that on a minor claim with tow mirrors on my truck, the dealership used an aftermarket that LOOKED like the oem tow mirror, but actually had a different part # and was definitely of a lesser quality then the oem mirror. Unfortunately, it took me awhile to recognize the differneces, so I really had no recourse when I finally did. I recommend that youdo NOT deal directly with the reapir shop, who will likely try to stonewall you, but instead call the insurance adjuster taht you worked with on the claim and show them the discrepancies between part #'s and fit. If the insurer PAID for oem parts and the shop did not use them, then that is fraudulent and the insurer should be willing to make the repair shop replace the parts with oem quality.
