I have recently found some leakage around the oil pan altho I can't say for certain yet since it could be the breather blowing all around. What I need to know if this gets confirm is it covered under the Cummins engine warranty? I'm out of the 3/36 warranty and I just need to know if it will come out of pocket, just can see paying for a major deal like this with only 30K on the truck. Also, are oil pan leaks common to this engine?

Johnny,

I seem to recall a TSB on oil pan leakage, check our site in the TSB section. Also, I recall this being covered under the 100k Cummins warranty. This is a big deal as I think the powerplant has to be lifted about 6 - 7" to remove the pan - not sure if this applies to 4X4 and 2 WD alike.

Look in the little book that came with the owners manual (not the service manual), it spells out exactly what is covered by 3/36 and Cummins 100,000 miles engine warranty. bg
