Found a possible source of noise in the front end of 2 wheel drive trucks. (at least the 93's) When turning out of the drive way I had a clunking sound in the front end. Took a hard look and found the bushing on the right side strut rod to be demolished under the metal washer. Changed the bushings on both sides of the truck as well as installing new sway bar bushings and links. Seemed to eliminate the "clunk". :)

Note: Got the first set of strut rod bushings from NAPA. They will not work on the truck and went to the dealer to get OEM stuff. :( (Took em 4 days to get the right stuff for me!) Also had to get the links from Dodge and the sway bar bushings for the link to bar connections.

I have all the ball joints and control arm bushings and will be changing those when the truck comes back from getting the new head stuff done. I also think one of the ball joints I got won't work either. Don't remember but I think it is the top one. Will also put in new springs at that time. That should take care of the handling issues for a while. I'll report on the results of that when finished.

remember, the diesel upper control arm bushings for diesel are a different # than for the gas trucks... They will look exactly the same however..... but they definitly are not

Got the ones for a 4000# front end so I hope they are the right ones. I was working from a list put together a few years ago by another member.

where do you have this parts list for the front end rebuild? where is a good source for the parts? are you using rubber or poly? everything on my truck is just about junk. half a million miles is way more than these front ends are made to take. .

I used some Energy Suspension poly bushings on the strut rods on my dads Barracuda. Nice parts, they seem to make nice stuff. They were reasonably priced too, $16 for both sides.

Ksommer,

I got the list from the archives. It was put together by a member named Shrimpy in March of 2000. I found a couple of items he had listed would not work for my 93. I'll try to compile a list when I'm done that shows numbers and where I got them but it will be a few eeks before that happens. .

I'm using rubber - figured the OEM ones lasted 200,000 miles, I'd use them again. Plus I didn't want to have squeaky poly bushings like some setups I have heard. Some are quiet, some seem to squeak bad. I know, put grease in the bushings when installing, some still squeak!
