Possible trans problem 48RE?

I took the wife and daughter to dinner tonight and after I went to fuel up the truck,it has about 460 miles on it now,fuel calculations was around 16 mpg.

But I also noticed when I took off from a light it started out in 2nd gear,no shudder just didnt start off in first.

So I stopped again and put it in park and back into drive and it started in second again,I know this because I pulled it down into first and it went into first gear,shifts fine if I do it manually.

Well I checked the fluid and it seems fine,smells like it should.

I shut it down,restarted it and it was fine all the way home it was fine.

My wife asked if I had it in second,she even noticed it.

I wonder if it needs to be flashed. . Any ideas???

It is strange you have this problem. The same thing has happened to me too. It has only happened a few times. I now have almost 16,000 miles and I have done a fair share of towing too. The transmission seems fine, but it has acted up a few times like you say. Since we have a 7/70,000 warranty... . I will worry about it later. The best thing that can happen is for it to blow right around 65,000 and start off with a fresh one... . HEE HEE! Good luck.

GGFoster, your description is exactly what my previous truck (Dodge gasser w/ 46RE) did to me. Turned out to be the pressure sensor governor in the trans. It also set a code when it happened to mine. Hope this helps.

No codes,and it isnt doing today,I did notice it shifts very early after takeoff and shifts quick,I will drive it til something happens I guess. .
