ok guys im new here i have a 2001 dodge ram reg cab 4x4 47re 24 valve. my problem is the trans i had a 2004. 5 dodge w/48re before this truck and converter lock was so much better. its so bad to the point where i dont think its locking at all. at 70mph i can let off the throttle and get back in and rps will raise around 700 before it starts to pull again. in the 48re when it was locked you hit the go pedal and it went. does it seem like this is a problem?? im not familiar with the way the 47re works, i tried a lockup switch and can not feel it lock up at all. checked codes when i uninstalled the lockup switch and it threw two trans related codes, i cleared them and they havent came back. i put the smarty on and anything over sw3 and "slides" into second gear. a trans is in order real soon, i just want to tie up any electrical grimlins that may be with holding lock up. thanks,

james

Welcome! Glad to have you here!

Unfortuantly it does sound like your trans is on the downhill slide.

Do some research and some planning. Buy it once. There are some great companies out there... and there are some that have some issues. MY opinion. . and only my opinion...

Go with either Goerend Brothers or DTT. Both stand behind their products.

yeah i think im going with goerend, i talked to dave a couple of times this month and hes a good guy. just trying to figure out why its not locking up??

May want to try one of the Noise Filters that DTT sells first. Its only like 50bucks and took care of my hunting/TC lock/unlock issues. It only takes about 2 minutes to install.

What if does is cleans up the signal that the trans and APPS get/send out with will take care of many trans problems in the 47RE. The APPS/trans control wires run right next to the alternator lines which causes interferance as the truck gets older. Mine did not start acting up until I had about 50k and my truck was about 4 years old.

All u have to lose is $50 if it doesnt work, but can save about 6k if it does.

Just my 2 cents,

J-
