Recently. I have noticed a sound coming from '98 2500 12V Ram. I thought that it was coming from the rearend, but through further investigation, I have discovered to be coming from turbo and vibrating down.

The sounds happens when I take my foot on & off of the accelerator. When accelorating, there is a whine the increases in pitch as speed increases. When I let off the accelorator, it sounds like something is vibrating and chirping.

This is my first diesel truck so I'm not too experienced, but these sounds have only begun recently(1 week).

Any ideas?

Take your intake hose off the turbo and take it completely out if you want some room. Next go into you turbo and feel for any play in you turbins... . a little up and down I believe is alright..... but if there is alot of movement side to side and in and out you have smoked the insides of the turbo..... Every turbo that I have looked at has had a little bit of endplay from wear..... Let us know what you find out!
