You need two things to make your truck run right. #1. Edge additude and #2. H & S DPF and egr delete kit (stage 1). The DPF delete kit comes with a 4" straight pipe that eliminates both the cat and DPF. It has a bung welded in the middle where the o2 sensor is replaced. There are three (3) egt probes that are unplugged and replaced with three (3) pluged in modules. The end of the 4" exhaust pipe is plumbed back into your stock muffler. On the egr, side, you remove the egr valve on top of your intake manifold which are blocked off with two plates included in the kit. You also need to remove the gate vane inside the intake manifold that is held in by two (2) tork screws. reinstall everything and disconnect the plug to the egr valve and you're done. It took me an hour and fifteen minutes to do. The Edge Additude is used at start-up to delete the soft code " egr circuit is low". The reason that comes up is the egr plug is left unplugged to run right.
There are no wires to tap into. A lot of people removed the egr valve and the bypass line when performing this mod. I perfered a "stealth" apperance and additionally blocked the by pass line, cut the egr valve wire about 4" down from the plastic plug that goes to the egr valve and re attached it. You can not tell looking at the engine anything is different. While doing this mod, you should throughly clean ever part ie. , the intake manifold, heater grid, egr vave, bypass line with something like carburator cleaner before putting all back together to remove all the built up soot... . you will see what I mean when you remove everything.
I run my truck hard at times, and average 19. 3-20. 9 miles per gallon hi-way ( hand calculated) on level #5 on the Edge Additude which is within two tenths of the overhead computer reading. I Live at 5750' elevation and travel between 6700'-4000' daily. There is no smoke while driving normally on level #5 and a litttle when pushed hard, and a little more on level #6 which I rarely have to do. Egt's down approx. 150-200*, better throttle response, more seat of pants HP, smoother running, no turbo issues, no re-gen issues etc. Have the latest AX flash.
I would recommend the latest flash before doing this mod. In my case. my DPF and CAT got plugged up at 6000 miles. It took the dealer 4 weeks to get the replacement parts, and in the meantime I did the delete mod. When the parts came in I told the dealer my truck was broke down approx. 200 miles away, and talked him into just exchanging my old for new. He didn't even mind, as his shop was backed up with other repairs, and if I had the ability to take it off he felt I had the ability to put back on. Besides I'm sure he claimed a warranty labor for not doing anything. Now I've got a brand new system sitting in my garage if ever I need to reinstall. Have 3000 trouble free miles since the delete, love this truck like never before.
