Post Count???

For some reason my post count meter quite yesterday. Any info on this?

For some reason it worked this last time, but not the umpteen times in between Monday and today.

It doesn't count posts in the "Political" or "other" forums...

This post is in the TDR Website/Roundtable forum which does count towards your post count. Any posts made in the "Other" and "Political" forums do not count towards your post count as Gary said.

I'm aware of that, thanks for noting though. It's not a huge deal, but since the 15th I have noticed that the number of posts in the box has went up only randomly after I post, or sometimes several hours after the post is made. Again, not a big deal, but I feel that this particular part of the forum should be a working part of the system.

On Edit: It seems that posting in this section of the forum gives me no problems with the post count. Count goes right up, instead of either not going up or waiting several hours then going up.

The way the software works there's no way the post count could go up hours after the post is made - it would literally be impossible. When you make a post your post is submitted to the database and your post count is incremented right then. There's nowhere else in the software that the post count is incremented except when you hit the post button. If your post count wasn't incremented at that point then your post wouldn't be submitted at the same time. You may be dealing with some internet speedup software that has a page cached that you looked at previously and is therefore getting the old count from there. Try hitting shift refresh on your browser the next time you notice it and see if your count is right then. The only place in the software that counts increment not in real time is the number of views on threads - that is updated every 10 minutes to reduce the amount of accesses to the database.

Thanks Steve! It's been working tonight good tonight, except for the first time that I tried to edit the above message. The second time I tried to edit the message, saying that it wasn't showing that I had edited the original message, I noticed that the post count went up. Just didn't go up until I tried editing the message twice, for some reason. I will keep the refresh in mind though. Like I said, it's been working fine tonight, except for when I posted the above message. It's not a big deal, just something I happened to notice on the 15th of the month.
