After getting my injection pump and fuel rail pressure sensor replaced last week I was finally able to take it for a run. It's got some problems.

1. It idles badly. Stumbling, missing, and surging.

2. It sounds more like a '98-'02 24 Valve than a common rail.

3. It doesn't hardly have any power to get out of its own way. On a run on the freeway from 60-80 in 6th gear my EGT's maxed out at 768 and boost was a max of 17PSI but was mostly at 16 psi. This was at operating temp, fully warmed up.

Also, the following codes show up:

P0088 Fuel Rail Pressure Too High

P0148 Fuel Delivery Error

P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Valve Feedback

P6336 (I have no idea what this code is for)

I know the fuel rail sensor was a used one, not brand new. Not sure about the pump but it looks like a reman unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The new baby came last Thursday, 3/11/2010, and I don't have much time to troubleshoot.

Thank you.

Mark.

Thank you Mr. West. I will call tomorrow. I'm too wiped out to even think about it right now. I did not do the work on this. A friend that owns a shop did the work.

Sorry Mr West. I had a situation I had to deal with. Sick kids come first. I will call when I get a few minutes to spare.

Just to close this thread;

It turned out to be a very dirty electrical connection at the FCA causing the issues I was having. Truck runs better than it ever has now that the connection is cleaned.
