Getting ready to install a new post turbo thermocoupler. I am getting quite confused from what I have been reading as to the correct drill and tap size and also the location. It is an Issopro gauge. Would rather not use the factory supplied bung that would have to be welded on.

Anyone have any ideas???

There are weld on bung type probes and clamp on probes. The weld on are way more durable. I use the clamp ons are for my race sleds expansiln chambers, not much to weld to and easier to erase the hole when done.

Why don't you put it in the manifold? You get better readings since you're a little BOMBed and have to keep an eye on things.

Post Pyro

You will get alot better reading pre-turbo than post. My buddy has his thermal couple about a foot down from the turbo and when he pulls the sled it will reach 1600* OUCH!!!

I have two pyros one is pre and the other is post. I have seen a difference of 600* between them:--) . You can also drill in the elbow that comes off the turbo, it has a boss on the side that has a dimple in it.

That's where mine was for the turbo temp monitor before the HX-40, funny how you forget that stuff after it's gone for a while...

I had the post turbo to begin with and after some more up grades I thought that I should put one in the manifold, and didn't feel like pulling out the post turbo.

Already have the pre-turbo. Going to put a switch next to the gauge and be able to get both post and pre from the same gauge. Then when I am working it, I can use the pre. When I getting ready to shut it down, throw the switch and use the post to get the best turbo temp readings.
