Why are my number of posts declining?

It's pretty obvious that one can't post copyrighted stuff without proper authorization, but what if the copyrighted material is appropriately referenced like one does when writing a term paper, for example?



The reason I'm asking this is a lot of times people ask about "how to do valve adjustments (or whatever)?" and people respond with an explanation. However, if a person cut-and-pasted or scanned a page out of the service manual with the appropriate credits/acknowledgements, then that would be easier than typing a long response.
 
It is called citing your reference. You can quote and cite the source either in an MLA or APA style. If you don't cite your source and include it as if it were your own, then that is where you get into trouble.
