I was wondering why the limits to posting an image are set to some odd size? 560 x 800. .

I tried to post a 640x480 image and it said it was too big. Now to go to 560, my image becomes 560x420, which is an awfully small picture... considering 640x480 is a "standard" size for web boards so dial up users don't need to wait forever to see something.

560 is the width limit because it will fit on an 800x600 page. If a picture was wider than 560 the entire page will be wider than an 800x600 screen and in order to read the posts on that page you'd have to scroll left and right as you read down the page to be able to read everything. There are a lot of users still on 800x600 screens. If you upload to the readers rigs or off site and link to the pictures you can have pictures wider than 560. They will be resized to show 560 pixels on the screen and will have a link below them that you can click on to view the full sized image.

I'm not sure what a reader rig is?

Yes I can put the pics on my webserver, but it's more of a pain in the butt than letting it upload right from the site.

I see what the reasoning is... some of us need to upgrade their computers... and I can say that cause mine is 5 years old and I built it for $400 with "junkyard" parts.
