Posting problems on the site starting 7/11 around 10pm through today

There were reports from users and I also experienced some posting problems last night through this morning. At first it seemed that the problem was a backbone or provider issue and had been resolved this morning. I continued to have problems later in the morning and although I couldn't find any problems in the server logs at all I rebooted the server just in case. That's why the server was down for approximately 30 minutes starting around 12:20 eastern. After the site came back up the problems continued. The problem should now be solved. It was in fact a problem at our hosting facility. They shut down one of the two domain name servers that we use on the server. That caused a problem where sometimes you could get right through to the server and other times it was extremely slow. The server has been reconfigured to use a different domain name server as it's secondary server until the hosting facility has their's back up and running. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Sometimes it seems like those guys really don't have a CLUE as to the effects they create when they carelessly hit the OFF button on an internal server...



This wasn't the first time - probably won't be the LAST - as long as they trust the janitor to supervise their system...

Steve, new problem tonight. When I edit a post after clicking submit a screen comes up that says no thread selected. First time for that one.

illflem and tgbol - has this happened to you guys again? I haven't been able to find anything thus far and haven't had it reported by anyone else.

I get the same message when I try to vote in a poll. It's been doing it for about 3 days now.
