He is risen!

I know it's not this site since I've done 2 posts today from work and didn't get booted. Unfortunately I'm with AOL>AKA America Off Line. If you've got a suggestion besides changing ISP's let me know.

Thanks, AL

Try Mindspring (Earthlink) they are used mostly by businesses. Price is right and rarely have problems

I second the suggestion about Earthlink. I was having a lot of problems with Juno including wanting to triple my monthly fee. I went to Earthlink and have been happy with the service.
A good example of their service is that the software they sent me was not compatable with Windows NT which is the operating system I use. One phone call to tech service and a great conversation with someone named Clair solved the problem. Their system will work with NT but the software will not. She walked me through a manual configuration of the set up and it has worked great since.
They are always offering some promotion so check about it. When I signed up the promotion was free service for the first three months.
I have heard many horror stories about AOL and did not even consider them at all.

Good luck!

Almost all national ISP's use the exact same facilities for dialup connections, with the exception of AOL, who has a lot of thier own stuff. They contract with GTE, UUNet, and several other companies who provide wholesale dialup service. These wholesale providers have variable levels of performance from thier facilities, and it's NOT under the control of the resellers like Earthlink.

Mind you, earthlink DID start out with thier own network... but found growth to be unacceptably expensive. In some cities, you can use AOL, Earthlink, MSN or your local ISP and be connecting to the exact same equipment.

And to think they sued Microsoft for giving away a browser... But I know what you mean about AOL. In some instances, it all but requires a reinstall of the OS to get rid of AOL's inventions.

They replace certain critical files in your networking setup, and nothing else will work until you do a full overwrite of all the networking files.

And to think that MS got sued for merely making thier browser integrated... And it did not interfere with anything else.

If anyone installs AOL on any of our computers at work, I have to format the disk drive and do a total rebuild to get the system working again. AOL thinks that when you put their CD into your computer that they now own it. I consider AOL to be the largest virus attack in the history of computers, but it doesn't make the news. For me, it's Qwest DSL and I can use whatever software I want to.

I'm feeling much better now.

I just posted on the "Other" forum and got booted off! #ad
I don't think it's the ISP and I'm not using "America Off Line".

Mindspring works great for me. Connects first time everytime-no hassles. Tried Juno and had nothing but trouble, same with AOL. Just my 2 cents woth.

If you get kicked off alot try downloading a program like napster or rapigator. You don't have to download any music just open it up when you're online. They will keep the connection open all day.

metal tech, I gave AOL the boot for EXACTLY the same reason you exoperienced. It wasn't so bad when I was cut off by AOL when I was emailing (as it is saved) however, posts in progress on a BB are not! The last straw for me was when I was booted off the third time one day.
