Depends on what you want your truck to do and how you use it. Without knowing what you use your truck for and what you want out of your truck its not so simple to tell you this box is for you, or this one is.

They are two very different boxes, I have both. Share some more details about your truck and how ya use it, then we can tell ya a lil bit more. How many miles on it? Warrenty a concern?

Towing my 20' enclosed trailer I can't go much over 70 mph in OD. This trailer has alot of wind resistance! Empty the truck runs great. No warranty issue. 4000 miles

I would highly reccomend the EZ over the PE. The difference is that the EZ is a timing box and the PE is a fueling box.

With a fueling box your EGT's will be out of hand. I know some people that are running the PE and on setting 2 can bury their EGT needle past 1500 degrees.

You do not want your EGT's this high... especially if you are towing. Yes the PE will supply more power then the EZ, but fueling boxes are usually only used for hot rodding around.

Hope this helps

With that information, go for the EZ Edge. Then after that if you want more then and only then go for injectors. With just the EZ your clutch will be ok, once you add injectors then eventually you'll need a new clutch as well. THe EZ has a "minor fueling enhancement, with timing advance. THe PE is a "major" fueling enhancer and raises EGT's.

Stay away from the PowerEdge itself because then you will have to modify the exhaust, possible turbo housing, or a new turbo to control EGT's.

Also the EZ plugs in and unplugs in a matter of minutes, where the PE will "pierce" the injection pump wire.

Thats my 2¢ worth.

Buttugly,I tried the edge ez. I love it and could not want for more. I pulled a 5er 30 ft into a head wind with no problem. 5 hour trip, not just across town. Galveston, TX. to DAllas,It made so much difference that wifey could tell the difference in the power. I could literally throw her back in between the gears after I unhooked the trailer. With the trailer gettin up to speed was no problem. I am now a couple of paychecks away from getting one. I thought my truck was ok but when I took it off it seemed a little sick until I got used to it again. I have the HO with the 6spd and it runs dang good. Try it you'll like it.

Does anyone with ETH run a non EZ PE?
If so, what else have you done to the truck?
I hardly ever tow, I do sometimes load the bed to capacity but never really tow any loads over #4-5000. I know my first step is gauges when I can afford them, but that is all I have decided on. How many of you ETH guys are running 350+ hp to the ground?

I ran a couple of tanks through my truck with an EZ Edge loaner and saw no change whatsoever in fuel mileage. This was two weeks of the normal commute to and from work and the weekend around town. I did not hotrod but I did run it 70-75 on the Beltway the same as I do with the Poweredge.

Off idle feels about the same but the EZ quits sooner, even compared to the PE on level 2. Less midrange and much less topend.

I see no point to go with the EZ when you can turn off the PE entirely or run it on 1 or 2 when towing. If you are hitting 1500 with the PE on level 2 then set it on 1 or downshift.

I don't think the EZ is enough power for the money.

We installed a PE on a truck at the last NW BOMBers bash and I got suckered into being the one to try and connect the feed to the injection pump wire. What a PITA that was. There is one plastic piece with a notch in it that the wire slips into, then the other piece with the pin contact and wire. Well it was almost impossible (for 2 or 3 of us anyway) to get that little piece to stay in position to snap the other part over it. It was tough to maneuver it with the short length of injection pump wire you have to work with and the limited access space. We about ruined the wire by the time we were done; it took the finely tuned fingers of Piers to finally do the trick #ad
The aggravation could be avoided by simply making the pin connector as a hinge so you don't lose the little pieces and more easily maneuver it for crimping.

Installed the PE is a bit involved, I think it took those guys at least an hour (but who knows, they probably didn't know what the heck they were doing #ad
) The EZ is a piece o' cake.

I think I am going to wait for the Edge COMP box that will be available soon from edge. It will be the EZ and the Pe combined only with more versatility. Could be used and adjusted acording to what you are hauling or towing, or as you get more mods on truck. Like clutch, or trany upgrades, or other things that would reduce EGT's.

What do some of the more experienced people think about this idea. I am new to the BOMB thing, and would like to here more discusion on this idea.
