Has anyone performed/had the following TSB done? My truck falls into the category so I though I might ask, might help going over these rocky mountians.

18-024-00

The Engine Control Module (ECM) software, on a 2001 Ram Truck equipped with a 24-valve diesel engine, is designed to “torque manage” the power output of the engine. This is done to protect the automatic transmission components. The revised software calibration restores the power output and improves the vehicle performance in overdrive.

Note: If TSB 18-015-00 Rev A has previously been performed too the vehicle in question, then the ECM software has already been revised with the correct calibration to address the above condition. The ECM will not require reprogramming.

The repair procedure involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Cummins CM551 Engine Control Module (ECM) with new software (calibration versions: 56T13, 59T6). There is no change to the JTEC PCM software.

Thanks

I too fall into the category and have looked at it many times but it always comes back to me not wanting the dealer even coming near my truck. To many horror stories with them making the oil pressure guage inoperable and what-not. Just my luck I would take it in and when I get it back they would say "oh yea we also did this, this and this while we were in there. " Then your truck runs like **** but you can't put it back like it was so your stuck. My truck runs way too good to risk it for something that may or may not help. Besides from what I gather not all trucks had this Torque management crap.

This Flash does recover the power but there are usually other things included. Updates address more than 1 issue at a time. Some you would want possibly others you would not. Your truck, your choice.

They won't reveal (engineering) what is in any flash other than the main symtom they are attempting to repair. Everything goes through legal and emmisions certification before releasing. All very tight lipped:eek:
