Heres the story. My friend owns a 2002 HO. Stock. Just sold his 12 second hot rod and has decided to put a bunch of money in his truck. Since I am a 3rd. Gen. guy I am unfamiliar with what he needs. I was thinking to start this week with a TST, and exhaust. Lets have it, what can he do for some serious power. He is aware of transmission issues and choses to have fun while it lasts then build it the way it should be. Your help is appreciated. Now, lets see your wish list. Oo.

Is your friends pickup a HO or SO IF HO it will have a 6spd manual a SO will have 5spd manual or auto transmission. Need to know this first. Would recommend the edge comp over the TST alone for the money. 4 inch Exhaust and a better fuel lift pump are a must for starters also. Then better cold air intake system. Gauges pyro, boost and fuel pressure and transmission temp if auto are a must.

His truck is a auto. 2500 LWB 4x4. So is it a SO? New lift pump and high pressure pump(warranty). He is very serious about building this truck to take care of his need for power. From what I know about the TST this is something that will grow with the truck. Turbo, injectors, etc. Is the comp box comprable? Gauges, better intake we know is a gimme, it is the other we are concerned about. How to make power!

Check into the new Juice/Attitude Very cool no gauges required and in measures fuel pressure and good power, Get some of Dons Injectors(choose your flavor) and a PS62 turbo, that will get him going.

SO it is. would still highly recommend an aftermarket lift pump the factory one will not cut it especially if doing mods it is a must. ditch the stock 1.

the TST is a fueling box only. The Edge comp boxes do both fuel and timing and are adjustable 25 setting in all I believe.

It would be best to build up the transmission while it's still in good shape. That said I'd suggest a Smarty & big sticks from Formula 1. Of course he will need gauges, a high capacity air filter & a 4" exhaust. For boxes, go with a TST or a Blue Chip. The BC Red Line Is the ultimate. I used the BC APB as the economy way to tap the wire.

From my undurstaning TST is boost, timing, duration, right? That is gonna be my next box after my transmission mods for my 3rd gen. Any other ideas?

I'm not up on the CR stuff. With the 2nd Gen stuff the TST is a fueling only box.

Whats the HP level he wants. Stack the TST with the Smarty.

O-Ring head & gasket

Studs

Cam & Springs

BFI (injectors)

Turbo

Exh. Manifold

transmission you know

Guages FP, Trans Temp, Boost, Pyro

Depending on the Box you get and display youll have the boost and pryo.

Want to spend more

port & polish head

Intercooler & boots anything over 50psi (safely)

Twin turbos

Drugs

etc.

for the most cost effective route to some good power on a totally stock truck why would you not go:

edge juice

Mach 4 injectors (or more)

intake and 4" exhaust

new turbo or twins

They are a whole lot of whol-up... ... ... ... ... ... actually my truck is daily driven. With them and my 6spd I can leave a light with no smoke, and shift with out smoking... ..... even with the turbo I have. But if I push the pedal a little to far, lights out smoke everywhere. At idle I get a a couple of puffs of smoke, nothing bad... ... ... ... nothing worse than a 12v at idle. In 6th at WOT throttle and 60psi of boost hang on from 60 to 110 in no time, and I still haze.

With your turbo you would light off a little quicker, I have a little lag between gear shifts, seems the more power I add to the 6spd the harder it becomes to shift fast.

I'm truly convinced the best all-around DD combo for an HO truck is:

1) Smarty programmer
2) TST box
3) Mach 4 injectors
4) Decent clutch (Con FE)
5) Better turbo(s) (lots of options here-- garrett, II, HTT, etc) twins are best
6) Fuel delivery upgrade
7) Don M Cam (Helix 2)
8) Water/meth
9) Progressive Nitrous

If you want to see about the best all around truck configuration (imo), check out Fishin Guide's signature. I think he has twins though-- even better.
