Ok I figured since its more then likely you guys would have a 6 speed



what kind of power levels does this thing take, what is known to break and need to be replaced. I found a 6 speed 12 valver the other day and I will modify it when I do get it, but just wondering if Im better off saving money and getting the 5 speed and just having that rebuilt or if the NV5600 will be able to take some power without breaking, Im looking to be in the neighborhood of about 1000rwtq

HMMM, well here is the deal: The 5600 is rated about a 100ft lbs more than the 4500, but a lot of guys run a lot more than that through both of them. I bought all the stuff to convert mine to the 5600 for the simple fact that I wanted a heavier-duty transmission for towing, and I needed the extra gear. The 5600 is a lot beefier, weighs almost twice as much, and does not have the weak aluminum tail housing. The later ones have a 1-3/8" input shaft, the earlier ones (2000-below) and all the 4500's have the 1-1/4" shaft. The clutch in a 5600 is bigger and better designed also, although you can run the 5600 clutch with the 4500, SBC has a flywheel kit to do that. If you look at all the sled pullers, most use the 4500 that has been beefed up with a bigger input shaft,etc.

NV5600 is a monster. There are allot of guys running more 1000lb/ft. If thats your goal just get a clutch (like SBC ConFE) and enjoy. You will always be able to find the right gear and no 5th gear nut problems like with the 4500.
