Please help me. I have two problems with my truck.

First the transmission shifts up and down. I can be going 35 or 70 mil/hr and the rpm goes up and down. The transmission has been apart and overhauled now 4 times in less the one year and they tell me that they don't know why and will not see me again.

Second problem is that I have lost allot of power. Normally I use my truck for towing my horse trailer but now it just overheat. I have replaced the lift pump and injection pump but still no power.

Today my wife and I left for a rodeo the outside temperature was only 34 degrees farenhite and the truck ran like I had got a new motor. That brings me to think that maybe the intercooler or turbo has problems.

Any help will be great

Hey welcome to the TDR, Can you tell us what year and a little about your truck. Mods?? Stock?? Fuel gauge?? ect...

If you get a chance fill in your signature with all the info so we may be able to help.

Could be a couple of things that come to mind but I could be way off base until I know what your driving.

If you have an automatic transmission, there are some really great transmission rebuilders that can rebuild it to hold more power, or maybe just hold the stock power while towing. Some that come to mind are DTT, ATS, Dave Goerend, Suncoast, etc. Do a search for any of these, to find more info... I have had great luck with DTT. The power thing could be related to the injection pump or lift pump. . You probably should check your fuel pressure asap, and if it is low, replace the lift pump. If you have a 2000 or newer, you can check for codes by turning your key: ON OFF ON OFF ON and then leave it on. look at the odometer and write down what it says. Post those here and somewhat can help you out more. Fill out your sig. by going to user control panel and edit signiture. Good luck!!!!

For the shifting problems, you might want to try an APPS reset. I've been told that disconnecting the batteries overnight might clear up those issues as well. If that doesn't work, DTT makes a noise filter that might work. This would clear up torque converter locking/unlocking issues. But if the trans is actually shifting up and down all the time, I'm not sure. The same procedures might work. With all the rebuilds, it would appear as though a mechanical failure would be unlikely, unless the shop doesn't know what they are doing.

Transmission shops have had there scanner hooked up and can't tell what's happening. It happens mostly when going downhill or on the flats

The injection pump and lift pump has just been replaced also

I have disconnect the batteries several times and also had the trottel position sensor replaced and reset.

My truck is 1999, Ram 3500 4x4 with Afe filter , Edge EZ, Banks monster exhaust.
