Power loss experienced climbing Colorado Pass pulling 6,000lb. 5th wheel with a 2002 CTD Auto. Usually pulls pass at 50-55 mph, but twice now the engine just losses power and won't go over about 1600rpm or 35-40 mph. No white smoke noticed and fuel filter just changed along with air filter and oil. Pulls a 3,000 lb. boat without trailer over pass just fine. Could it be lift pump or injector pump or ? Still under warranty, but want to get any TDR knowledge before dealer starts looking at it.

2002 2500, 4wd, auto, CTD, 60,000 miles

1998 2500 Quad, 5spd, 4wd, 110,000 miles

2005 3500 Quad, auto, 4wd, 2000 miles

Might want to move this to 2ng gen forum...

But I would definitely check your lift pump. Every time I had a lack of power problem in my '99, it was either the fuel filter or the lift pump. Since it's under warranty I would have them run a diagnostic on your VP44 as well.
