Long time reader, first question.
I have a 99 Quadcab, 4WD, Auto, with 90K miles. Lift pump replaced about 60k. Transmission rebuilt about 57k miles. Rebuild included all(?) applicable updates and a heavy duty torque converter. It has a Banks Power Pack Plus system and a BD exhaust brake with Autoloc and Torqueloc. In addition, it has Power vision mirrors, and a power sliding rear window(the greatest accessory of all time).
Over the past few months, I have noticed an intermittent loss of power. this happens at highway speed when I want to increase speed to pass or when, in city driving, I slow to make a 90 degree turn and at other times. The truck does nothing when the accelerator is floored. It acts as if it is governed. If the accelerator is pushed hard enough to cause a down shift, it may or may not speed up immediately. In all circumstances, it finally speeds up, either gradually or quickly. This may occur frequently or infrequently or not at all for days or weeks.
I took it to Dodge(who, by the way, have been very good and helpful to me), and, with a test drive, it wouldn't mis-behave. They did two flash updates which did nothing for my problem(the cruise control was smoothed out!).
The lift pump presures tested satisfactory, both by them and me.
(It just occurred to me that I haven't checked water in the fuel, but the light hasn"t come on. )
Since installing the BD brake the check engine light remains on, with several codes being set. Dodge can only remove these codes by removing the jumper in the PCM. The codes are immediately reset when the jumper is reinstalled and the ignition simply turned on. (How can I check the codes using the ignition key and the mileage indicator?)
One Final point. I had some body work done that necessitated removing the power mirrors. Since then, I have had trouble with the radio. It will show a scrambled display, no display or clock only. In each case the radio doesn't function. Per the shop manual, removing and re-installing one of the fuses fixes it until it happens again. I read the TSB references on this site re heated mirrors and radio problems but don't know how they would apply since all worked well for two years.
I know this is long and maybe convuluted, but I mention it all just in case it is all related
Obviously any help will be appreciated. I have had many other questions over the yearS, but they are usually answered through this site or TDR
