What seems to be the setup to go with? I have the Power Max 3 with an Edge EZ. What setup will give you the most hp and tq as far as boxes on our trucks? What are you running in your trucks?

Well if the van aaken will give me better low-end than the Edge EZ then I must give it a try. Who has the best price one and what is the part #. Is there more than one for my 99 24 valve? It already has the Power Max 3.

I'm leaning toward a PM3, stacked with an EZ or equivalent and DDII injectors. Sounds like PM3 + VA box = better low end than PM3 with EZ, but if I have DDII injectors, will that bring the low end back with the PM3/EZ combo?

Also, how do you like the PM3? How long have you had it?

Thanks

Tim

I really like the Power Max 3 and had it now for about 1 year. I want to try out a van aaken with it and see what happens. I just want to know before I spend the money is it better than what I have now with the Edge EZ? Does it matter what setup you run like 275 injectors or DDIII's for as what box will be better for me?

I have a PM3 stacked on a VA box. Works great. 275 injectors are plenty with that setup. Anything more just makes more smoke and heat. Won't get much more power and you will have "too much" when you don't need it which means your cruise control won't work. Trust me, I've tried DDII's and III's

You can probably get a VA box and 275 injectors real cheap used. Check out the classifieds section.

You WILL need a new clutch! Stock one will slip with TST box on level 2 or so.

I was at the BD page and the chart showed no difference from the Van AAKEN to Edge EZ? I need more input on this going from an Edge EZ to Van AAKEN :{

Do you think I will tell a difference from a Edge EZ to an Van AAKEN?

For a deal on a VA

AKA BD Plug N Power, check with BD Power. They are having a sale.

I just picked up a Powermax box there. :D

Well just got off the phone with BD and they said to go with the EZ instead of the VA box. I asked why and see said it is a better product out of the box and and last longer? I am stuck here now on what to believe.....

what to believe ... .

well, I don't know if this will help, but let me relate a little more info. :

EZ is adjustable by setting some switches on the box (you have to go under the hood to do this). VA is not adjustable.

EZ is a little more expensive, but not much (+/- $80) more than the VA.

VA is REPUTED to be softer on your engine, i. e. , a little less timing; however, I've talked with another retailer who had no reason to "spin" his opinion (that I know of . . . I had already bought a box from BD and I was just asking his opinion when ordering some other products) and he said that the EZ was the way to go between the two boxes. I have also heard that the VA had some QC issues at one time.

Overall, either box is going to (again REPUTEDLY) give your truck a nice, noticible bump in power.

Just like me, you pays your money and you's takes your chances!

Hope it works out for you! ;)

I presently run the EZ with my 2s. It's a great combo, and the bottom end has serious girth. I can run this combo with the EX set on most aggressive and easily control the smoke (even here at 6000+ ft elev).

That's why I am thinking about Mach 4s, and then just switch down my EZ. So far, large injectors have proven to be a lot more streetable than I thought.

When/if I upgrade to a fueling box, I will NOT stack the two. The timing advance caused by the installation of large injectors means that the EZ and PMAX would probably be a little too much.

Thus, an upgrade to a wire-tap box would be a TST alone, for me.

The newer TST boxes DO have a timing element to them-- but it's a lot more subtle than the Edge boxes.

Personally, I think the TST is the best box going. It tends to run hot, but it's controllable.

BTW-- my stock clutch still holds very well, even with the EZ on grunt, and the injectors.

If you start out in 1st, the stock clutch can often hold a lot more power than people think. I am 350ish and have no slippage at all.

It's on the BD web site..... look for plug and play box because it is a VA with BD's name on it.
