Competition Program in the Power Max 3 box??? Can anyone tell me what is involved like how much does it cost? What the performance gain is? If you have a remote with 9 power levels does that still work? I was thinking about having it done but don’t want to lose the power level adjustment, has anyone put one on and had concerns with your pump or with the power max 3? I am just looking for some input here that’s all. :p

The remote still works, on either the Competition, or regular model, all nine levels. I had mine re-programmed over a year ago to 60% instead of 65%, and my VP44 is still surviving.

I run it in level 6 ALL THE TIME, with a Van Aaken, PDR40, and DD3 injectors.

The engine sometimes defuels rather violently in levels 7,8, and 9, when you lift. No matter how gently you try to lift, it still does it. The timing from the Van Aaken seemed to minimize that, I had to unplug the VA and try a few runs with and without, since I couldn't believe it. Level 7 & 8 are unreal. :D Level 9 gets me the same E. T. as the other two.

I had mine reprogrammed 6 months ago and will echo everything briar just mentioned. The extra ummph is worth the $50 or so it costs to have TST do it.

I actually run a slower ET on setting 9 because the I hit my max egt setpoint and it starts defueling. Guess I just need a bigger turbo:D

power max 3

What is the hp & tq diff from a drag power max 3 to a normal power max 3? And what is it about the waiver what does that involve?

Proturbo-I believe the difference is about 40 rear wheel HP but I believe it also depends on your setup-turbo-injectors-exhaust-intake. I will be running the comp version in a couple of weeks-as soon as I fiqure why it died today.

Ditto to the above, especially Briars reply. Levels 7-9 are pretty sick ( in a good way) with the comp. upgrade. Unfortunately, when you lift, no matter how easy, the defueling shutter just don't feel good. With the step 5 injectors and the EZ box piggybacked, level two feels just right for me. Instant turbo spool up and the egts are still in check.
