I just installed leather power seats in my truck yesterday. I plugged it in and theres no power. I had manual seats before. I installed the one large 20a silver fuse in fuse panel. Im wondering if there is another one im missing or something. I wont have a test light till later but thought maybe someone might have some insight. Thanks

RolandJ try checking out the pdc under the hood to see if any fuses or relays apply to power seats. Factory Service Manual are great source of info( you can get them at Geno's Garage. Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage )

It seems that to me that 2nd 24 valves have power to the switch at all times and when you turn switch on it connects the ground to complete the circuit. Definitely need test light, voltage meter or multi-meter.

RolandJ,

Check for power at the seat plug which is the Red/Light Blue wire on both pins A and H. That's the battery power through the 20 amp circuit breaker (big silver thingy). Also, did you put the circuit breaker in CB1 or CB2 position. It should go in CB2. CB1 is for the door locks. Look behind the junction block where CB2 is connected to insure there are wires connected.

CB2 in the Junction Block (dash fuse box) is fed by fuse Fuse 1 (50A) in the PDC (under the hood).
Fuse 1 in the PDC feeds Fuses 1, 4, 12, 13, 14, and CB2 in the Junction Block. (heated seats, power mirrors, power door locks, dash lights, instrument cluster among others)
If you do not have power at the seat connector as mentioned in post #3 look at the back side of the Junction Block (dash) where CB2 is attached to see if there are Red/Light Blue stripped wires attached. If there are wires follow them to see if there is another plug downstream which should be attached to the power seat harness. Plug C359 for power seats w/heat, C360 w/o heated seats.

Before getting into your contortionist outfit to crawl around under the dash and chase ghosts you may want to perform a continuity check of the 20A CB2 to see if it is open or closed. If open it is bad.

So there should already be a fuse under hood and i installed the silver fuse in CB 2 pulled it back out put test light on and there is power there? does that mean something still might not be hooked up?

Now, since you have a test light available go to the seat plug where you plugged the "new" seat into. There should be a Red/Light Blue wire. Check that wire for power. If you don't have power there check CB2, or swap it with CB1 (if you have power windows/locks). If you still don't have power after confirming CB2 is good you have something wrong or missing between the Junction Block and seat.

well Ive done a little trial and error heres what i have so far. I have power at the CB 2 no power at the seat plug. I swapped fuse from the CB1 power windows. still no power at the seats. Is something not hooked up. I dont know what else to try. One would think if the ckt has power it would be fed.

Time to get your contortionist outfit on and dig around behind the dash. Follow the wires from the backside of CB2 of the fuse box to see if it is connected to a harness that goes to the seat. Depending on what the manufacturer did, sometimes the harness is in the vehicle but not connected; other times the plugs are there but no harness; and other times the main harness does not have any plugs or attachments for anything that wasn't an ordered option.

well I had my contortionist outfit on and now with back pain and everything else and still no luck im back here. I dont see the red blue wire behind fuse. i followed it up from seat and it wraps around into that junction that clips next to clutch pedal but the it doesnt come out of that . Am I missing something?

Joe,

It would probably mean your truck's wiring harness does not have the wire included in the bundle. You can look at the harness under the dash (if you have recovered from the previous contortions) and see if any of the following numbers are found on the tape labels.

1 WIRING, Instrument Panel
56045361AG 1 with Heated Seats (06/26/00 &
After)
56045362AG 1 with Innity Stereo, Keyless

56045363AG 1 without Innity Stereo, Power

Keyless Entry (06/26/00 & After)
56045364AG 1 with Overhead Console, Innity

Mirrors & Foglamp (06/26/00 &

56045365AG 1 Base Model (06/26/00 & After)
56045768AF 1 with Innity Stereo, Audio Control
Steering Wheel, Keyless Entry,

All is not lost though. You can alsways tap into the CB2 output terminal and run the correct size wire to the power seat wire you traced under the dash.

the harness Im talking about by clutch pedal is that the one you are talking about? If it is I just need to hook into that and run it up to CB2. Again thanks for all your help.

Assuming you physically followed the wire from the seat connector to that point and there is no wire continuing from the connector by the clutch pedal, then yes, you should be able to use an appropriate sized wire to connect to CB2 power. A continuity check with a multimeter can confirm this.
