i just got done last night changing out my power steering pump and gear box on my 99. they work great for about 10 minutes then start to overheat. the brakes become hard to push and the steering becomes stiff. any idea on what would cause this to happen. i think i bled the system correctly as i must have turned the wheel back and forth at least 80 times if not more. no air in the fluid even after they start overhearing. what could cause this. does it mater to which return ports the lines go to on the pump. i for the life of me cant fugure it out and none of the shops around here have ever heard of this happening. anyways the trucks sitting in the driveway again.

I am in the middle of installing PSC's '03 box on my '01. I bought the external cooler and the remote huge resevoir. I also have the hydraulic ram assist that I believe will replace the steering stabilizer. This a new kit and I am helping them to work out the kinks. However, I believe the scenario you are in is similar to one I have addressed in conversation with PSC. The resevoir needs to be vented and the vent needs to be the highest point in the system. The hydro assist for the brakes is higher than the stock resevoir. The point I am trying to make here is that if you have air in the hydro assist then it will compress and not blow out. You need to see if there is someway you can bleed the highest point of the hydro assist circuit. On my '01 the line connections are good candidates for bleeding up on the assist mechanism. Let me know if this works for you as it is begining to look like I will be having a similar situation as soon as I get the rest of my parts.
