What's the best way to swap from Dino to Full Synthetic PWR Steering fluid? I'd prefer to not have to deal with potential air pockets in the braking assist system.

Years back I did the "pull as much as you can out with a Turkey baster" method and fill with new, but I'd like to completely get rid of the Dino in favor of RedLine Full Synthetic PWR Steering fluid.

Thanks in advance.

Put the reservoir return line into a bucket, then pour new fluid in with the engine running. Also needs steering wheel movement and brake activation. Definitely requires a helper. Plan on about 6 qts.

I still have a small stash of the Valvoline.
It's been good in my truck, I do NOT however really travel in the extreme cold climes much.

When you do a full fluid swap, take the time to pull the bottom pump line which contains the pressure valve. Carefully take it apart and clean it up making sure its not full of debris. Redline makes great PS fluid too...

Katoom, thanks. did that years back and need to be done again for sure when I do the flush/swap. I think I recall finding info here (years back) that showed measuring a spring and increasing the length a measured amount to give a bit more "power" to the power steering.

I'm not sure I'd be messing with the spring... Things like that tend to be questionable at best. Just clean and reinstall is the safer bet.

Will see if I printed the info on the "spring measurement/stretch to length". Most likely I printed in and have in a folder in tool box. maybe look for it later this week, or not? Lots going on at the homefront...

I had big problems develop in cold weather last winter. Lack of assist with steering only. After a screen clean and switch to Redline I have not had one issue since. The new high volume Borgeson pump I ordered still sits on the shelf. Lots of lock to lock to bleed it out. Don't forget to order an extra container to top off later if you need it.
