2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Power steering fluid type

Geez If memory serves any good at all here I thought valvoline was the stuff to use. However I gotta get the right stuff no matter what brand as I ONLY have a Napa here at work that I can get something from. Any suggestions?

Valvoline Synpower. I got it at Pep Boys - don't know if NAPA carries it or not.

That's the beauty of Syn Power, it's compatible with the OEM fluid, no need to flush. Just suction gun or use a turkey baster to get as much as you can out of the reservoir, add Syn Power, drive the truck as long as you please and do it again. After the third time you'll be at almost 100% Syn Power. I changed mine out over the course of two years.

Well wait a minute here! If you're actually going to persue power steering fluid outside the boundaries of NAPA...



why not use something better than anything mentioned so far? That's right, a 100% synthetic... Royal Purple MaxEZ. Plus, it's compatable with non-synthetic power steering fluids. I would go ahead and flush what you can now, replace it with MaxEZ and reflush at your convenience.



Problem solved.



And the best part????... you can order it online for a great price! I forget the link right now but another member posted it and I used it. Great price, great vendor.



Additionally, 9 out of the 10 or so NAPA dealers I went to earlier in the week (chasing down some new wheel studs ) had a pretty comprehensive display of Royal Purple products.



... and here you guys thought I only liked/used Amsoil! He!!, I like anything that works great!

Got my Valvo-blend stuff at NAPA about 2 years ago. Did a flush over time with my home made suction gun. Never a problem; real nice in the cold weather.

I probably should flush again just to complete the job. Maybe next week.

TMTT: I put Valvoline syn-power stuff in my truck last winter when she was squealing like an extra in the movie Deliverance when it was only about 20 degrees above zero. Sucked out what I could with a turkey baster (Hint: don't use the wifes good one) and refilled with that stuff. Hasn't squealed since and has seen lower than -30. Gonna suck out some more soon and refill just for a flush.
