Air Bag recall 2008

I have an 04.5 that recently sprung a power steering leak from the pump and line. During this I did not let it get too low, however during the trip It started getting really noisy. I replaced both with the new style cardone brand. Steering was difficult and noisy even after hours of bleeding the system. I spent a lot of time vacuum bleeding as well. I then put in a OEM 2010 style pump with the same issue. I then put in an OEM steering box and have the same issues. It is almost impossible to turn the wheels when parked. It gets tougher if brakes are depressed. It gets very noisy when turning at 1500 to 2000 rpm. It currently wanders around which it never did prior to this. All other front end components are only a year old and are the 2009 updated with dynatrac ball joints as well. Everything is tight and nothing binds when turning wheels while lifted off ground. Could there be a blockage somewhere I am not noticing? It gets much worse when I load up the truck camper as well. Everything worked perfectly prior to this incident.

Another strange thing is when I am vacuum bleeding, as soon as i get to 20in-hg it starts getting very noisy as if there is serious cavitation. Maybe normal? Could there be a something in the hydroboost? Brakes work great.

So you replaced a line? Did you make sure the orings came out with the old line? Had a similar issue and found the oring from the line still inside the steering box port.

Yeah, oring came out with it. Good call on checking that though. Im gonna pull both lines off to make sure of no obstructions this week.

Pump is probbaly the culprit. Reman pumps just do not seem to work well. The hydro boost for the brake stakes a lot less pressure and flow than the power steering does, just because the brakes work doe snot mean the pump is good. Try another reman pump or go new.

Right. So i returned the new cardone pump and now have the oem zf pump Same issue. So this problem has been here with 3 pumps, 1 new line, and 2 different boxes. This tells me air in line or something in hydroboost maybe.

could there be a leak where air is sucked into the pump while running?
because the system is self bleeding after some use, there shouldn't be some air in it after a day or so.

also the line from the pump to the hydroboost has an inliner in it that is known to wander into the hydroboost unit itself and make a terrible noise.

I guess ill do yet another pump today. There doesn't seem to be any line issues and it's getting louder and harder to steer

Check thoroughly for any debris in the system, if there is the slightest them install a return line Filter to catch it.
Otherwise you'll change parts endlessly.

Well. Went to napa to grab a pump. Stupid chinese junk Bolt holes don't even line up. Tore this oem pump apart and everything is in great shape. Put back in and it's noisy as hell. Sounds like air and a lot of it. No bubbles though.

No bubbles means no air though.
Did you disassemble the lines and checked them all for blocks or anything in this direction?
Did you pull the inliner out of the pressure hose to the hydroboost unit?
I had that myself and it is really noisy if that starts to wander towards the hb-unit, and it is not needed, so pull it out is the way to check.

Replaced hydro boost . Didnt help much . Tore open pump Polished and cleaned internals. A lot quieter Ill give the air a chance to rise and see how she does.

Dare i say I think problem is solved. New booster and cleaned pump. Re bled. Works almost as good as it did before all this mess. Thanks for the tips.

Started with 1000. Moved to 1500. Then 2000. Then cleaned the hell out of it. I think it was a combo of things, but mostly the pump and booster.
